These are no ordinary horses! they are ex-police horses who have earned themselves a much deserved retirement after 15 years of service to the nation and the public. The start of the year saw Friendicoes proudly welcome these horses to the Friendicoes family fold to live the remaining years of their life basking in the sun and happily munching away on their memories.

Friendicoes continues its efforts to reach the working donkeys, ponies and horses of India by running mobile clinics. Our mobile team moves from site to site providing free medical care to over 1500 equines in a week. Our goal is to render free medical aid on site to donkeys, horses and mules at brick kilns, stone quarries and at Tonga stands in and around Delhi and we hope to carry this work uptill Agra in the immediate future . We also provide farriery training in addition to feed and husbandry advice. Educating the owner in the care of his animal is an important part of our project as he makes a huge difference to the welfare of the animal, the supply of subsidized saddlery, harness, hobbles, hoof picks and rugs, the provision of shade shelters  and water troughs-all contribute to improving the condition of these animals whose life is unrelenting drudgery and overwork.

  Friendicoes assisted the Brooke Hospital for Animals UK (now known as "The Brooke") & used our good will to help them establish their operation in India. The Brooke approached Friendicoes in the year 1999 requesting help to set up an operation in India as they had tried several times earlier and failed. We worked closely with the Brooke from 1999 to March 2006 till their field of operations geographically moved away from our area of work. Friendicoes concentrates on the belt between Delhi and Agra and in and around the state of Haryana where working equines abound.
