The Friendicoes SECA long cherished dream of a night ambulance has at last turned into reality recently. Gone are the days when a hit and run animal had to wait till morning to receive help and in the process sometimes breathed it’s last after hours of pain and suffering. Now thanks to the generosity and support of ATAAC, Australia who has donated an ambulance for the animals and Benindi Fund, U.K. who is sponsoring the night ambulance service, the animals will now get help all round the clock.

After a 3 month long period of hitches and impediments in acquiring the ambulance due to the lack of provision for registering animal ambulances in India, the vehicle is at last on the road carrying the title of “animal ambulance”. With a five member team of Vet, Para vet and Driver on duty with helper and a monitoring person to handle the phonecalls the whole night through, the ambulance is now in the field helping animals in distress on the roads of Delhi. You can now reach out for help on 9873302580 / 09810000254 at any hour of the night or day and the animal will get immediate assistance. In the short time we have run the vehicle 33 patients walked in and received emergency treatment. Friendicoes is happy to say 9 of those dogs would not have survived without this help.
Choosti, for example, decided to snack on rat bait after his owners had placed it in their kitchen and retired for the night. Luckily for Choosti the maid came in for a drink of water and found Choosti happily swallowing the last of the snack. It was 11.30pm and the distraught lady on the line was extremely happy to know a vet would be attending to her dog at once upon her reaching Friendicoes. Lara a graceful black Indian desi more boisterous than she should be at her age chased a cat and had a run in with a vehicle. The terribly upset driver who obviously loved dogs brought her in and was most relieved to find a well lit clinic and a ready to serve vet and staff. News of the service is yet to get around but we have picked up 19 hit and run animals dogs, cats and a day old calf already. We have a great deal of gratitude for the wonderful donors who have made this possible.
