| Spay/ Neuter Project |

|
FRIENDICOES-SECA
believes that spay and neuter is the humane alternative
to killing animals for controlling animal population in the streets.
Ours has been a catalytic role in bringing about public
awareness and changing government legislation in
this area. Since 1993 the dogs of Delhi and its environs
are brought to Friendicoes SECA to be sterilised and vaccinated against rabies and
then returned to their street
home. We have completed sterilizing and vaccinating over 40, 000 dogs.
We are taking our ABC work to the state of Haryana, to the villages around our Sanctuary. Friendicoes proposes to vaccinate all dogs against rabies in these villages and sterilize them while educating the villagers in responsible pet ownership. Friendicoes receives no funding from the government of Haryana for this project and we depend on your donations. |

At Friendicoes, we spay & neuter plus vaccinate
over 6000 stray dogs and cats annually. Friendicoes raises donations for the pre and post surgery
costs of kenneling, feeding and maintenance. The
Animal Birth Control project receives partial subsidy
from the Government of India to cover medicine costs.
The spay/neuter clinics need regular maintenance, a steady supply of medicines, new cages for overnight stay of animals and staff to care for them. Once again we depend on the generosity of donors. |

Spay and Neuter Programme: Andaman and Nicobar Islands
This project has completed two years with help from Best Friends, USA. It was started after Tsunami relief work was almost completed and the animals had found their own footing again in the ravaged islands. A small team led by Dr.Geeta Gladson carries on the work of sterilizing and vaccinating the stray dogs and cats in Port Blair and Little Andamans. The team also feeds about 150 stray animals on a regular basis and regular vaccination of cattle is also carried out. |

Mutthi Bhar Jeevan Project- A community
feeding programme
This is a unique initiative of Friendicoes SECA and this phrase means that a handful of grain spells life for an animal and goes a long way in feeding stray and homeless animals. Children are often told that they cannot keep a pet, this program makes them feel empowered that, with very little inconvenience to family and home, they can still contribute to the feeding of animals. Each student brings a fistful of rice and lentils and this is collected and donated to the shelter . The cereals contributed by the children is then collected by us on a fixed day. This goes a long way towards helping animals in the streets of the capital. Orphaned pups, old & handicapped dogs and abandoned
pets stay on with us as they cannot be returned
to the harsh life on the streets. Sent to the sactuary, their care and maintenance is supported through donations from people like you.
A
community-feeding project is a small way in which
everybody can help the poor animals get suitable
nutrition. You can start this program on your street, in
your school, college or office. This small effort made by you will make an enormous difference to the lives of these poor creatures. Delhi’s truly “stray”
dog population is really minimal. Most of the dogs
are “community pets” fed and cared for by a group
of houses or families. By sterilizing and vaccinating
these dogs against rabies we create a “safe” and
“stable” population. Animals are released back into their areas only
after vaccinating them against rabies and ensuring
they will be fed and maintained as community pets.
Orphaned pups, old & handicapped dogs and abandoned
pets stay on with us as they cannot be returned
to the harsh life on the streets. Sent to the sactuary, their care and maintenance is supported through donations from people like you. |
