Volunteer

Welcome to the Friendicoes SECA Volunteer Program.

By choosing to be a Friendicoes volunteer, you are choosing to help dozens of needy animals.  There are many different options available for you to explore, to match your skills, interests andd availability.

As a Friendicoes' volunteer your primary duty is to provide a support base to the Friendicoes team and help us to run the organization smoothly and efficiently.

 

What we ask from you:

  • Be able to comit to at least 3 hours per week to the cause.
  • Please be on time for your shift. If for some reason you cannot make it,  please tell us asap preferably a day before so we can rearrange cover.
  • We expect volunteers to be respectful towards staff and clinic visitors and other volunteers.
  • Being a volunteer can be a tough job! Please remember we are all working towards the same goal.

 

Volunteer Choice

 

 Website Support Group

We are looking for 6 people to help us maintain and update our website regularly. This entails content writing, coordination with shelter staff for stories and taking/ organizing pictures.  A further break up of the job is as follows:

-          4 volunteers for news and articles

-          2 volunteers for the monthly newsletter

-          1 volunteer to coordinate from Port Blair shelter.

Candidates must be expressive writers and be able to work on a deadline. If you are interested in being part of the Website Support Group please send us a sample of your writing along with this form.

No previous technical knowledge required.

 

Adoption Coordinators

Friendicoes wants to ensure that each animal adopted from us goes to a loving home that can provide for his/her every need. We require a small team of volunteers to conduct pre and post adoption house checks, each time a dog is adopted. The coordinators must be fluent in both English and Hindi, have their own mode of transport and be personable.  These volunteers will also be required to coordinate with the web support team for stories. The break up of this job is as follows:

-          4 volunteers for Delhi

-          2 volunteers for Gurgaon

-          1 volunteer for Noida

 

The Shelter Program

For those volunteers who want to care and work hands with animals.  care.  Volunteers will be expected to help the staff in the daily functioning of the shelter. This includes but is not limited to – walking dogs, helping the para-vets with basic treatments, answering the phone, creating enrichment for the animals, painting cages and general maintaince, nursing orphaned animals and showing visitors around the shelter.

Volunteers will be able to choose their time from available slots and be comfortable handling different animals.

Training will be provided where necessary.

All on duty voluteers will be responsible to the duty manager.

 

The Outreach Program

Friendicoes is looking for people who will help us in spreading the word about our work. These Outreach coordinators are expected to be self-starters. They will lead groups on tours of the sanctuary, coordinate with corporates, man PR tables and fund raising stalls, give presentations at schools and help us raise funds for our various projects.  

Oportunites exist for fundrasing and rasinine awarness throughout India and overseas.

 

The Friendicoes Intern

This option is for the crazy animal lover who wants to know how an NGO operated.  We will take on interns for a minimum of 6 weeks and they will be expected to work 5 days a week for 5 hours a day. Each Friendicoes intern will work with a management supervisor.  We are looking for smart, quick thinking individuals who are ready to face unforseen challenges.  There is no fixed job description and interns will be expected to help wherever neccessary.

All volunteers who have completed 60 hours of voluntary service are eligible for a Volunteer Certificate.
